Scavenger Hunt Leaderboard & 4 Validation Options

Grandstand has just rolled out some major upgrades to our Scavenger Hunts, Check-Ins, and Quizzes, making them more engaging, interactive, and customizable than ever before! Whether you're running a fun scavenger hunt around a venue, organizing a food week with exclusive rewards, or setting up a knowledge-based quiz with a leaderboard, these new features will take your event to the next level.

New Validation Methods for Each Stop

Now, event organizers have even more flexibility in how participants complete each stop. Choose from four different validation methods:

  • Traditional Code Entry – The original method remains an option for those who prefer a simple and effective way to validate progress.
  • QR Code Scanning (NEW!) – Users can now scan a QR code at each stop for a quick and seamless check-in.
  • Geo-Location Confirmation (NEW!) – Let your event participants check in automatically based on their GPS location, eliminating manual entry.
  • Photo Upload Requirement (NEW!) – Require users to submit a photo at each stop, with admins having access to all collected photos for review and potential repurposing.
New Leaderboard Feature

Competitive participants will love our new leaderboard functionality! This feature can be either time-based or score-based, offering more ways to track engagement and success. Users can now see when stops are completed and, if desired, a new link at the bottom of the screen for each stop provides a real-time view of their progress.

New Intro Page for Instructions & Demographics

Setting up your scavenger hunt, check-in event, or quiz is now easier than ever with a new intro page. Use it to provide:

  • Instructions and Rules for participants before they begin.
  • Demographic Collection Questions to help populate the leaderboard.
    • Options include collecting initials (for an anonymous leaderboard) or more robust details like name, email, location, and phone number.
    • Only names or initials will be displayed on the leaderboard for privacy and safety.
New Ability to Chain Scavenger Hunts and Quizzes

Now, you can link multiple scavenger hunts or quizzes together, requiring users to complete one before unlocking access to the next. This feature is perfect for creating multi-stage events or themed challenges that build excitement and engagement.

Enhanced Features for Rewards and Engagement

These updates build on Grandstand’s already powerful event tools, allowing you to:

  • Unlock coupons or rewards based on completion levels.
  • Unlock special offers at each stop.
  • Require completion in a set order or allow all stops to be available at once.
Password Protection for Testing or Exclusivity

An existing but valuable feature remains – the ability to password-protect any hunt or quiz. This ensures exclusive access for testing purposes or limited groups.

Endless Possibilities for Use

With these new features, the opportunities are limitless! Here are just a few ways you can use Grandstand’s enhanced tools:

  • Traditional Scavenger Hunts – Have users collect words, numbers, scan a code, or take a photo at various stops.
  • Food Weeks & Special Events – Unlock coupons, create check-ins at participating vendors, and boost engagement.
  • Scored Quizzes – Test knowledge on a topic, display leaderboards, and offer prizes to top participants.
Availability and Pricing
  • Basic scavenger hunts will continue to be available in Silver packages.
  • Some select features have been added to the Gold package level.
  • These new enhancements will be available in any app submitted after March 5, 2025.
