Introducing Points-Based Rewards in Grandstand

Engagement does not have to end when a scavenger hunt is completed or a quiz is finished.

Points-Based Rewards is a new system in Grandstand that lets events turn participation into progress, and progress into real rewards.

This feature connects scavenger hunts, quizzes, and surveys into a single points economy where users earn points across the app and redeem them for prizes, coupons, or exclusive experiences.

How it works

Points-Based Rewards are built around a simple, flexible flow.

1. Define how users earn points

Admins choose which activities award points, such as scavenger hunts, quizzes, or surveys, and assign a point value to each one.

2. Points accumulate automatically

As users complete activities, points are added to their overall balance. Points can be earned across multiple days, activities, and areas of the app.

3. Points unlock rewards

Admins create rewards and set how many points are required to unlock them. Users can preview locked rewards and see exactly what they are working toward.

Once unlocked, rewards can be redeemed as single-use offers, repeatable rewards, or external online redemptions.

What admins control

The Points-Based Rewards system is fully configurable and designed to fit a wide range of event styles.

Admins can:

  • Choose which activities award points
  • Set how many points each activity is worth
  • Enable or disable point-earning activities at any time
  • Define how many points are required to unlock each reward
  • Offer locked reward previews to motivate participation
  • Track redemptions at the user level

This allows events to start simple and grow into more advanced engagement strategies over time.

Real-world examples

Points-Based Rewards work just as well for small incentives as they do for larger engagement goals.

  • Complete one scavenger hunt to earn a free cookie
  • Earn points by visiting multiple locations across the fairgrounds
  • Finish a passport-style experience to unlock VIP seating
  • Complete a daily quiz to earn entries into a giveaway

Because points carry across activities, users are encouraged to keep exploring instead of stopping after a single task.

Why this matters

Scavenger hunts, quizzes, and surveys are powerful tools, but on their own they are often one-time experiences.

Points-Based Rewards create continuity. Every activity contributes to a larger goal. Every interaction feels meaningful. Engagement becomes intentional, measurable, and rewarding.

For events, this means longer session times, stronger participation, and clearer incentives for exploration. For users, it feels like progress instead of tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can users see their points in the app?

A user’s current point balance is displayed on the Rewards or Coupons page. As users earn points, their balance updates automatically and reflects progress toward unlocking rewards.

Do users need to be logged in to earn or redeem points?

No. Users do not need to create an account or log in to earn points or redeem rewards. Points are tracked locally within the app experience.

What is the minimum Grandstand package required to use Points-Based Rewards?

Points-Based Rewards are available starting with the Gold package and are also included with Platinum and Titanium plans.

Do points apply to scavenger hunts or surveys that were already completed?

Yes. Any eligible scavenger hunts, quizzes, or surveys that a user has already completed will count toward their point total once Points-Based Rewards are enabled.

Does this replace rewards that unlock from a direct action, and can I use both?

Points-Based Rewards do not replace direct-action unlocks. They are offered as an alternative way to unlock rewards. A reward can use either a direct-action unlock or a points requirement, but not both at the same time.

Does my app need to meet a minimum submission date to use this feature?

Yes. The app must have been submitted after January 15, 2026 in order to use Points-Based Rewards.
