Minnesota State Fair App Reaches Nearly 188K Users

The Minnesota State Fair packs food, entertainment, exhibits, shopping, and traditions into 12 busy days. The Official MN State Fair App, powered by Grandstand, helps visitors bring those possibilities together as they plan and explore.

During the 2026 fair, August 27 through September 7, nearly 188,000 active users generated more than 907,000 app visits.

Those figures cover only the 12 days of the event. They do not include the browsing, discovery, and planning that happened in the days, weeks, and months before the gates opened.

The Experience Starts Before Opening Day

For many visitors, the fair begins with anticipation: exploring new foods, checking entertainment schedules, and deciding which familiar favorites to visit again.

The app gives that planning a home. Visitors can browse available listings, explore the grounds, and save favorites ahead of their visit. When fair day arrives, those saved choices are ready to help guide their day.

That makes the event-day numbers one part of a longer story. The nearly 188,000 active users and more than 907,000 visits measure activity during the fair itself, while advance planning adds another dimension to the app’s usefulness.

An App Visitors Returned To

An app download is a starting point. What happens afterward tells a more useful story.

Nearly 188,000 active users engaged with the Minnesota State Fair app during the 12-day reporting period. The more than 907,000 app visits include repeat sessions, showing that activity extended well beyond a single opening.

Visitors had plenty of reasons to return. Schedules, food listings, vendor information, maps, favorites, and Open Class Results brought different parts of the fair into one place.

Someone planning a performance could check the schedule. A visitor deciding what to eat could explore food listings. A family looking for its next stop could open the map. The app supported those different needs throughout the day.

Connecting Discovery With Location

At a large fair, knowing what you want to see is only part of the planning process. Knowing where to find it matters just as much.

Minnesota’s app connects schedules and vendor information with the fairgrounds map. Visitors can select a location to explore associated vendors and see current or upcoming events, then open those listings for more detail.

Favorites make those connections personal. Visitors can save vendors while browsing and filter the map to show only locations associated with their favorites. A list of foods discovered before opening day becomes a set of places to find across the grounds.

These capabilities bring planning and exploration closer together, helping visitors move from “That looks interesting” to “Let’s go there.”

Helping Visitors Find What They Have in Mind

Visitors do not always know the name of a vendor or which section of the app holds the information they need.

Improved Home Search helped make content easier to discover through vendor descriptions, tags, and subcategories. Clearer Top Matches prioritized more relevant results, while better handling of typos and variations in wording helped visitors find useful matches.

For organizers, this extends the usefulness of the content they already maintain. A food mentioned in a vendor description can help someone discover a listing they might otherwise have missed.

Celebrating the People Behind the Fair

The app also connected visitors with another important part of Minnesota’s fair: competition results.

Minnesota became the first major rollout of Grandstand’s Open Class Results experience, giving participants, families, and other visitors a way to explore results within the app. Shareable result graphics offered a way to celebrate accomplishments with others.

That expands the app’s role beyond planning a visit. It also helps people connect with the exhibits, achievements, and traditions that make the fair meaningful to them.

Supporting the Full Visitor Experience

Nearly 188,000 active users and more than 907,000 visits demonstrate the scale of app engagement during Minnesota’s 12-day fair. The planning that happens before the event extends that role further.

For event organizers, the opportunity is to support visitors across that full experience: discovering what is available, saving ideas before arriving, finding their way during the event, and celebrating results afterward.

Grandstand brings those tools together around each event’s grounds, programming, vendors, and audience. We are proud to support the Minnesota State Fair and help connect visitors with everything the Great Minnesota Get-Together has to offer.
